ABOUT MERCY AND GRACE CHARITABLE TRUST
Founded in 2005, Mercy and Grace Charitable Trust is a registered nonprofit organization serving marginalized communities in India for nearly two decades. The Trust works in child education, feeding programs, healthcare, women empowerment, and vocational training.

MISSION
To empower Dalit and underprivileged children through quality education and holistic development.

VISION
A society where every child enjoys equal access to education and dignity.

LEGAL STATUS
Mercy and Grace Charitable Trust is a legally registered charitable trust in India and follows transparent governance and financial practices.

BACKGROUND
Education is the strongest foundation for social transformation and economic empowerment. However, for thousands of Dalit children living in villages and urban slums, quality education remains a distant dream. Poverty, social discrimination, illiteracy of parents, child labor, and lack of academic support at home severely affect their learning outcomes. Though many Dalit children are enrolled in government schools, they often fall behind due to overcrowded classrooms, lack of individual attention, language barriers, and unsafe home environments that are not conducive to study.

After regular school hours, most children from marginalized communities return to homes where parents are daily wage laborers, domestic workers, or migrants struggling to meet basic needs. These children are frequently burdened with household chores, sibling care, or income-generating work, leaving no time or guidance for studies. As a result, poor academic performance, grade repetition, and school dropouts are common.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Despite school enrollment, Dalit children face:
• Poor learning outcomes
• First-generation learners without home support
• Caste-based discrimination
• Child labor and domestic work
• High dropout rates

CHALLENGES
• Inadequate teaching support
• Economic pressure on families
• Learning gaps
• Unsafe study environments
• Low confidence and motivation

PROPOSED EVENING SCHOOLS PROGRAM
Mercy and Grace Charitable Trust proposes Evening Schools operating 2–3 hours daily after school hours, providing:
• Remedial education
• Homework support
• Literacy and numeracy
• Life skills
• Safe and inclusive learning spaces

EXPECTED IMPACT
• Improved academic performance
• Reduced dropout rates
• Increased confidence
• Better transition to higher education
